Warwick Davis to Receive BAFTA Fellowship Honor

Warwick Davis, beloved for his roles in Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Willow, has been named the recipient of this year’s prestigious BAFTA Fellowship. The honor, recognizing extraordinary contributions to film, television, or gaming, will be presented during the EE BAFTA Film Awards on February 16.

Announcing the news on The One Show alongside Lenny Rush, Davis expressed his gratitude: “The Fellowship, to me, embodies the spirit of inclusivity, creativity, and collaboration that BAFTA stands for.” He added, “This recognition is not just about the body of work I’ve contributed but also about the people who’ve stood by me and the audiences who have made this journey worthwhile.”

Davis also dedicated the award to those with dwarfism or other differences: “Our uniqueness can be our greatest asset,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to championing fresh perspectives and better representation in the industry.

Beyond acting, Davis has significantly impacted the entertainment world. He founded Willow Management, representing actors under five feet and over seven feet tall, and co-founded Little People UK, a charity supporting individuals with dwarfism. His Reduced Height Theatre Company also promotes opportunities for shorter actors.

Sara Putt, Chair of BAFTA, praised Davis, saying: “Warwick is a talented, much loved, and truly inspiring figure who has captivated audiences over many decades. From his iconic performances to his advocacy for greater inclusion, Warwick has had a remarkable impact on cinema and society.”

The EE BAFTA Film Awards will take place at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, hosted by David Tennant. The evening will also spotlight nominees like Emilia Pérez, which leads with 15 mentions, and finalists for the EE Rising Star Award, including David Jonsson and Marisa Abela.
