Hatebeak is an American death metal band formed in 2003 in Baltimore, Maryland, by Blake Harrison and Mark Sloan. The band is renowned for its unique lead vocalist, Waldo, an African grey parrot born in 1991, making Hatebeak the first band to feature an avian vocalist.
The band’s discography includes several releases with avian-themed titles, such as “Beak of Putrefaction” (2004), “Bird Seeds of Vengeance” (2005), and “The Number of the Beak” (2015). Their music has been described as “furious and blasting death metal,” with a sound likened to “a jackhammer being ground in a compactor.”
Hatebeak maintains a strict no-touring policy to protect Waldo from the stress and potential harm of high decibel levels at live performances. The band aims to “raise the bar for extreme music,” pushing the boundaries of the genre with their unconventional lineup.
