Beloved comedian Dave Coulier, best known for his iconic role as Uncle Joey on Full House, has recently revealed a challenging health battle. The 65-year-old actor has been diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Coulier shared the news exclusively with PEOPLE, explaining that his diagnosis came after an upper respiratory infection led to significant swelling in his lymph nodes. As his condition worsened, a series of tests confirmed the grim news.
“I went from, I got a little bit of a head cold to I have cancer, and it was pretty overwhelming,” he confessed. “This has been a really fast roller coaster ride of a journey.”
Despite the daunting diagnosis, Coulier is determined to face the challenge with positivity and strength. He has already initiated chemotherapy treatments and has shaved his head as a proactive measure.
Coulier is open about his journey and is sharing his experiences with fans through his podcast, Full House Rewind with Marla Sokoloff. He hopes to inspire others by his candidness and unwavering spirit.
“I’m going to be strong throughout this, not just for me, but I’m going to be strong for her,” he said, referring to his wife, Melissa Bring.
The comedian draws strength from his family, many of whom have also battled cancer. He recalls the courage of his mother, sister, and niece who fought the disease with unwavering determination.
“I saw what those women in my family went through, and I thought to myself, ‘If I can be just 1/10th of a percent as strong as they were, then I’m going to be just fine,’” he shared.
Coulier’s positive outlook and unwavering spirit are truly inspiring. As he continues his fight against cancer, he remains hopeful for the future, especially with the upcoming birth of his first grandchild.
He urges fans to prioritize their health and undergo regular check-ups. “Take great care of yourself, because there’s a lot to live for,” he advises.
